What is UL Certification for PCB?
UL (Underwriters Laboratories) is the most authoritative and oldest non-profit private safety testing organization in the United States. Engaged in custom pcb fabrication
Everyone in the industry knows that the safety certification of CCL is very important, and it is a prerequisite for CCL to enter the market. Therefore, most domestic copper clad laminate manufacturers will obtain UL certification as a threshold. Next, we briefly explain the UL certification of PCB boards, as follows.
UL (Underwriters Laboratories) mainly conducts safety tests and inspections on various equipment, systems and materials, confirms whether there is any danger to the declared property, and publishes the test results. But there will not be a certificate, you can check it online through the number of the PCB board. Generally speaking, UL standards can be divided into: requirements for product structure, requirements for raw materials used in products, requirements for electronic components used in products, requirements for testing together and testing methods, requirements for product marks and instructions, etc. . Now UL certification has become one of the most stringent certifications in the world.
UL certification of PCB board:
1. Substrate.
2. Pressing thickness, the total thickness of various materials; such as high frequency mixing pressure plate.
3. Edge conductor, the distance between the edge of the conductor and the edge of the board is within 0.4mm;
4. The highest working temperature, the highest temperature the finished product can withstand under continuous operation; such as Flame resistant PCB.
5. Solder limit refers to the maximum operating temperature and operating time allowed during the Surface-Mount (SMT) & BGA Assembly process, not the spraying process in the printed circuit board manufacturing process;
6. The largest circle size, there is also the largest non-piercing circle diameter or the largest continuous copper foil diameter;
7. UL94 flammability test standard, refers to the grade of the material's resistance to flammability.
A product with a UL mark in North America is equivalent to obtaining a safety and quality credit card, and its creditworthiness has been accepted by consumers. Therefore, the UL mark has become a special pass for PCBA products (especially electromechanical products) to enter the US and North American markets. The purpose is to prevent personal injury or property loss caused by various hazards such as electric shock, dangerous energy, fire, thermal hazard, mechanical hazard, and radiation hazard. UL also plays an active role in promoting the development of international trade.
