Rigid-flex board is a combination of Custom Flexible PCB fabrication and rigid board. It is a high frequency hybrid platen that combines a thin layer of Flex High Quality PCB Products Flex bottom layer and rigid bottom layer, and then laminates them into a single component. The rigid-flex board has changed the traditional flat design concept and expanded to a three-dimensional three-dimensional space concept. While bringing great convenience to product design, it also brings huge challenges.
Rigid-flex board has both rigid layer and flexible layer, which is a kind of 1-8layer Fast PCB fabrication. A typical (four-layer) rigid-flex printed circuit board has a polyimide core, which is covered with copper foil on both sides. The outer rigid layer is composed of single-sided FR4, which are laminated on both sides of the flexible core to assemble a multilayer PCB. Rigid-flex boards are widely used, but due to the mixed use of multiple materials and multiple production steps, the processing time of rigid-flex boards is longer and the production cost is higher. When making a multilayer rigid-flex board, the processing technology of the flexible layer is completely different from that of the outer FR4 layer. Layers made of different materials must be gathered together through lamination, and then drilled and electroplated. Therefore, the time to make a typical four-layer rigid-flex stamped printed wiring board may be 5 to 7 times longer than that of making a standard four-layer rigid printed circuit board.
Rigid-flex board has the characteristics of bendable and foldable, so it can be used to make custom pcb fabrication, which maximizes the use of the available indoor space.
