Question:

Does this unit support openadr?

Answer:

The Pulsar Plus does not support Open ADR at the moment.

But this feature is definitely on our product roadmap.

Question:

Will this unit snap off of the wall for carrying in the car?

Answer:

Once the mounting plate is screwed into the wall, the box is then screwed into the mounting plate so this is not one that you would want to keep taking off and carrying in the car

Is there a portable version?

Answer:

No. You may have received a portable unit with you vehicle. This unit is hard wired to 220. Electricity is dangerous especially high voltages. Can’t imagine a portable level 2 charger. The outlet, wiring and fuse all must be compatible with the amps being charged. Don’t buy this stuff without some knowledge.

 

Question:

will this work if power supplied is 30 amp, 220 volt?

Answer:

Probably not advisable, since this is a 40 amp charger, so you should have at least a 40 amp circuit breaker on a dedicated power line, and 50 amp breaker if shared with any other devices (25% above the rated output is recommended). You can adjust this unit to a multiple lower amp output settings by using the smartphone app, but going below 32 amps would pretty much defeat the purpose of getting this type of charger; and even at 32 amps you should have a 40 amp circuit breaker. When I had it installed, I used an electrician who changed out the breaker from the existing 20 amp to 40 amp. 

 

Question:

Can you adjust the 48 amp charger down to 32 amps if I feel the need?

Answer:

Yes. The 48 amp version has to be hard wired to the breakers. The 40 amp version can either be hard wired or connected via a 220 volt outlet.

Question:

Is this compatible with a 2017 BMW i3?

Answer:

It should be, yes. As long as the BMW has the same receptacle as the Pulsar plug, which is pretty generic.
