Designed by Jan Ekselius in 1970, Etcetera has become the hallmark of its decade-long design expression. Lounge chairs are still frequently sought-after design objects at the world's top auction houses. In an exclusive collaboration between Swedish design boutiques Artilleriet and Jan Ekselius, Etcetera is back in original production once again. "It all started when I was a student at the Royal College of Art in London, and I discovered that when stretched on a convex shape, an elegant and natural elastic material formed," says Jan Ekselius. "I made a prototype in my school's workshop for bending steel pipes and latex-impregnated jute fabrics. When production started at JO Carlsson in 1972, we realized that elastic fabrics were difficult to work with, so I started looking for alternative materials. When Volvo invented the adjustable With the Pullmaflex back support, I finally found a solution. Now, with the help of elastic bands, the concept and comfort have been further developed."
