Do you know how to press good quality pellets?
The process of pellet production comprises the following stages.
Possbile including drying of raw material,grinding, pelletizing ,cooling, fine speration and packaging/Storing.
Drying Section.
Drying is not needed , if the raw material consists of cutter shaving or dry sawdust.However, if moist sawdust is used, it should be dried before grinding.
Grinding Section
The raw material is ground to a grain size equal to at least the diameter of the pellet. However, the ground wood sawdust should not be too fine,when there are no longer fibres that in part bind the pellet.Usually, a hmmer mill is used for grinding , when homogenous raw material is obtained from compression.
Milling and drying Section of raw material can be combination, if drying is required.
Pellet production
Pellets are nally made by pellet mills, also known as pellet presses or extruders, which are available in a range of sizes. Generally, every 100 horsepower provides a capacity of approximately 1 ton of pellets per hour .
Pellets are created by using a great deal of pressure to force the raw material through holes in the die. The pellet machines are mainly formed by two elements: the die with the holes that act as the mould and the rollers that force the raw materials to go through the holes of the die.
As the pressure and friction increase, the temperature of the wood also increases. This allows the lignin to soften and the
bre to be reshaped into pellet form . Simultaneously, the moisture content is reduced because of the higher temperature.
Cooling Section
Cooling is very important stage of process. After compression the temperature of pellets is high, usually about 90 ℃.The moisture released in the compression stage is removed with heat from the product. Cooling stabiliseds the pellets and hardens the lignin melt on the surfact of pellets.and hence, the shape of pellets remains unchanged.
In Screening , the raw material dust mixed among the pellets is separated and lead back into the pelletisazion process. Screening is usually performed with a vibrating screen to secure a homogenour product that does not cause problems in conveyors and combustiing equipment.
Finally,the pellets are conveyored to a storeroom or put into big or small bags for transport to consumers.
