AVR JTAG is a complete JTAG-based on-chip debugging tool in conjunction with Atmel's AVR Studio. It supports all AVR 8-bit RISC instructions with a JTAG port microprocessor. The JTAG interface is a 4-wire IEEE 1149.1 compliant Test Access Port (TAP) controller. The IEEE standard provides a proven standard method for board connectivity testing (Boundary Scan). Atmel's AVR devices have expanded their capabilities to support full programming and on-chip debugging.
The AVR JTAG emulator is used to simulate the hardware of the chip, such as single-step execution of the program, setting breakpoints, etc. The hardware simulation can be used to understand the detailed operation of the program inside the chip. The AVR JTAG emulator is mainly used to simulate the chip.
