A:The D5300 only autofocuses with the latest AF-S lens, and also older professional AF-I lens. Briefly, AF-S lens have a built-in motor to drive the focusing mechanisms on the lens, whereas AF lens rely on the motor in the camera body (like the D90 or the D7200). Most traditional screw-drive AF lenses will not autofocus on the D5300, but will autofocus on the D90/D7200. Lens that say "AF-S," will autofocus with the d5300, and most lenses sold today for the D5300 are AF-S. The D5300 has no internal autofocus motor, so it will not autofocus with original-style screw-drive AF lenses. This is why some lens will autofocus with the D5100, and some won't.

 

 

A:Yup, if you're comfortable using manual focus this will work with your D3100. With that said, I'd probably put my money towards the 35mm 1.8 (Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras). It's more expensive and can be a little hard to get your hands on, but it will auto focus with the D3200. However, if you want a great lens to shoot static images (product shots, nature shots, even portraits) you really can't go wrong for the price. If you plan on taking candid pics of your kids or other non-posed pics, expect to loose some nice shots while you're trying to manually focus.

 

 

A:yes it is fully compatible with a Nikon D90. (D90 has a built-in AF motor; thus AF is possible) Just keep in mind that this lens would be 75mm equiv. on a DX body.
