Coppersmith art, which has a long history and tradition in Kahramanmaras, has gained momentum since the 1950s and has become a product is exported all over Turkey. Copper work, which is a traditional handicraft in which kitchen utensils and various ornaments are produced by forging and embellishing copper, continues to be widespread. In addition to the coppersmith's bazaar, there are also coppersmiths in the saddle makers market. The traces of this art, performed by many coppersmiths, can be found in almost every house in Kahramanmaraş. Today, pots, boilers, coffee sets, pasha barbecues, jugs and trays produced by coppersmiths are adorned with various motifs and marketed domestically and abroad.
Forging technique is used in the processing of copper. Forging technique is applied by two different methods called "pitting" and "collecting". Embroidery is done by "embossing" and "piercing" methods. The motifs drawn with chisels were carved on copper with pencils and punches with various pattern patterns in their mouths. Among the products produced are vases, pots, trays, basins, jugs, bowl with handles, bakrac, ashura, pan with lid, cauldron, barbecue, champagne buckets, large tarhana and ice cream cauldrons and various decorative ornaments. Most of the products produced are touristic ornaments. A variety of products are obtained by mixing brass with 70% copper and 30% zinc, again with patterned coppersmiths.
